On June 18th, 2025, the city of Edmonton, Alberta, hosted a new edition of the Habanos Academy Junior Course. This initiative, organized by Havana House Cigar & Tobacco Merchants—exclusive distributor of Habanos, S.A. for the Canadian market—with the support of Primero Cigar Imports Ltd., sub-distributor for the West Coast, is part of Habanos, S.A.’s ongoing commitment to excellence and specialization in the industry. 

The course was held at the Q Club Cigar Lounge and led on behalf of Havana House by Francisco Rojas, a Habanos Academy Master. This edition was specifically aimed at industry professionals, bringing together 14 participants interested in deepening their knowledge of Habanos, their origin, history, and distinctive characteristics. 

The academic program provided a comprehensive overview of the process from seed to commercialization, allowing attendees to explore the richness and complexity that define Habanos. Key topics included denominations of origin, brand classifications, legal aspects related to the protection of Habanos, and the different categories of specialization at retail points, further enhancing the knowledge essential for those who guide and introduce the Habano culture to consumers. 

The celebration of this Junior Course in Edmonton reflects Habanos, S.A.’s continued commitment along with its strategic partners in each region to raising the standards of industry knowledge and professionalism. These efforts support the development of skills among professionals, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of a product with Protected Appellation of Origin status.
